Just found this snippet on a Sting/ Police artwork site [img]tongue.gif[/img]
Re: A New Live Concert on DVD Featuring Sting

Here's a more detailed article about it from billboard.com:

"Columbia has set an Aug. 6 DVD release for trumpeter Chris Botti's "Night Sessions:
Live in Concert." The DVD is drawn from a November 2001 concert at Los Angeles'
El Rey Theatre and features guest appearances by Shawn Colvin and Sting, in whose
band Botti previously played. The live band also features bassists Jimmy Johnson and
Christian McBride, drummers Vinnie Colaiuta and Abe Laboriel, Jr., and pianist Billy
    Childs.

Colvin sings on "All Would Envy" (written by Sting but making its recorded debut here)
and also performs her own "The Facts About Jimmy." Stings lends his vocals to
"In the Wee Small Hours" and his familiar "Moon Over Bourbon Street."
The tracklist is rounded out by such Botti compositions as "Alone in the City,"
"Easter Parade," and "Miami Overnight." Interviews with Botti, Colvin, and
Sting are also included, as is a photo gallery.

"Sting's performance was spectacular and Shawn's contribution was sensational
creating a night of musical magic," Botti said in a statement. "I've been fortunate
to have played with some fantastic performers in recent years -- both on stage
and on my albums, but this night stands among the most memorable."

Don't know how old this news is ...any info from the most knowledegable group in cyberspace?

No it's not Vinnie. The drummer for Chris Botti at the time was girl from Israel. I don't remember her name. I think she got the gig through Steve Hass as I know they were friends and I think he may been asked to play with Chris but was unavailable.
One thing is certain, it's not Vinnie.

When i saw Botti at the Friehofer's/Saratoga NY Jazz Fest, summer '03, if i'm not mistaken, i remember that he had a female drummer. She was a good player; very solid & tasty. Maybe it was the same woman.

Ho Lee She Heights...i just went back & looked at my saved Friehofer's leaflets to see if they named her [they didn't], & i saw where Hiromi was playing both in NYC the day i was there to see Chick [at another venue], AWA at Friehofer's on the smaller Gazebo Stage [where The Bad Plus played], & I didn't know it so I didnt see her. I wasn't paying attention to the 'smaller print.' Missed her BOTH times. And she had DiCenso at the time. And here i was riding around NYC all day in a rental with nothing to do, wasting time, sightseeing. I also missed Christian McBride's band early that Sat at Friehofer's [don't know who his drummer was]. Talk about your near-misses. Wholey Screw-Ups, Scatman. I mean, I DID get to see Vinnie & Weckl, AWA a slew of other great players [Gene Lake, Nate Townsley, BBlade, Randy Jones, Dave King, John Staten, Jorge Rossy, etc], but still [!]...ouch, now that smarts.

Tombo, Ptrack, or Blake, did you guys catch her at all?!
